Getting lost in the children's section at Barns & Nobles or the Amazon Book Store is honestly one of my greatest past times. My love for picture books runs deep. There is just something magical that happens when you read a good picture book, especially with kids! Something I am always on the hunt for, are books that support social emotional learning for my third grade students. Below I've generated a growing list of books that I love and have purchased for my classroom. Some are books to support social emotional learn and some might be simply great books! Also included is a little blurb about the message the book has to offer you and your students, as well as the possibilities for a lesson or activity. This list will continue to grow as my classroom library grows. Happy reading!
The Never Ending Book List
This book is simply adorable. When Daniel's babysitter cancels, he has to go with his parents to their job as nighttime office cleaners. This story beautifully shows the power your imagination and the magic that families create together. It also emphasizes the need to show more kindness towards those hardworking families, who often work thankless and underappreciated jobs. This story will leave your heart feeling so full of joy and hope for the generations to come. If you're looking to teach your class about kindness, the power of your imagination and being grateful for your loved ones...this is your book!
